March

March 1, 2017

We had a new Wednesday challenge that was never done in the class before. Teams were assigned with one veteran in each group to make boat tails with three transition. The equation with instruction was given to each team if it needs to follow the math to build it more accurate. Our team used scissors to cut the cardboards to make the three transition pieces. The material had to be the corrugated cardboard which gives some stuggles to bend.

The first prototype that we had wasn't good enough as the diameter and the height was miniscule in our opinion. We cut out another pieces of the portions with bigger measurements to tape the outside more easier. Since we did not use the equation to build the boat tail, there was a lot of size differences between each trasition. To cover that up, we put a ductape oustide and secured them altogether.

The Wednesday challenge that we just finished will not be required on the website. Mr. Miller will look for the requirements on the Dr. Neat's list when he grades our websites. The boat tails picture will be included on the list soon. I uploaded all the photos that I took for the past two weeks.

March 6, 2017

The number of people who recieved F increased to 17. Those people who are still on their first car is falling behind. It is standard to be working on the second car. I worked on the longer pieces of the car. However, I cut the wrong lines and have to start over again.

People using google sites have problem with the pictures and the file. There is an error with the permission, the accsess that gives a person to open the file needs to be checked. If the link sharing setting is not fixed, it blocks everyone as private. Dr. Neat held another car race for people who have not passed yet. I redrew my design of the model.

March 8, 2017

We had a story of what happened during the previous pringles Wednesday challenge. We will be doing this challenge in pairs and design a container that will be mailed from LaCanada to CV. The designs will be due on this Friday. Jess and I will design a container with a small cardbox and wrap it with bubble wrap to put it into an envelope. The judges presented the winners of the boat tail challenge, our team got 2nd place.

Dr. Neat was disappointed on how many people does not understand the rules of the challenge. Jess and I figured out the volume of the total envelope. We will be using a 3.5inX5in envelope to mail it. The cardboard box will be 5inx2inx2.5in total. We drew a prototype of it to get the quick look of it.

March 10, 2017

Today is minimum day. Also, the designs are due until the end fo the period. Jess and I figured out our total mass which is 130 grams. We got an estimated score of 1.49. Instead of sketch up, Jess and I took a photo of the dimensions with instruction on the paper because we thought there was not enough time to make a sketch up model of it.

March 13, 2017

I was absent today because I was sick. Jess received the model of the package design that we will be making for the challenge.

March 14, 2017

There are certain rules about which tape must be used and which can't be made. Two of the squares were miscalculated, we measured and cut out another piecies to replace it.

March 15, 2017

Jess brought the tape to tape the cardboards together into a box. We taped the four pieces together first with the bottom. Then, we taped only one side of the last cardboard and put the chip inside. The design that we received is simple, however we are not sure that it will work out to get 100 points because nothing else goes inside of the box except for the chip.

March 16, 2017

The class watched a video titled 'Sky Crane' by National Geographic. I updated the website including a picture of the car that I have to make and journal entries.

March 17, 2017

I finished upolading a picture of the final box that we mailed and the design of it. Robotics team are having the competition today so the class tried to find a way to watch the live stream.

March 18-27, 2017

Spring break started, I visited the Grove mall and Santamonica to go shopping. On Thursday, my friends and I went to Koreatown to have fun at the karaoke place. I got caught up with all the episodes of the show that was couldn't watch during the school days. Even though my math teaches offered an extra credit project, I did not do it. I bake some cookies on because I had nothing else to do.

March 28, 2017

The robotics team expained how to competiton was which was held last week. The team won the imagery award for having an amazing and creative pit. We heard of how other schools did on their robots with its records.

Make an argument of taking math class over the whole year and receive the grade you earn vs. writing numbers from 1 to 1,000,000 on a paper for a guaranteed A grade was the problem statement of this week's Wednesday challenge. John, Lucas and I first timed our selves to check how long it takes to write number from one to hundred to multiply the average by 10,000 and estimated how long it takes to write up to million. Then, we contrasted the number of school days left to the time we estimated.

Continued with the Wednesday challenge to finish all the groups' prsentation. I filled out the Wednesday challenge form and moved the photo of what we did to google drive.

March 31, 2017

Dr. Neat was gone for the other robotics competition. I finished all of my entries but I forgot to update the whole website with filezilla.
